Got this brainstorm that we needed to test our mettle by taking a really long trip. Hmm...where have we not been in the good ol' US of A? Yellowstone!
Left from Cypress, TX around August 20 and headed up the long and rambling western route (no hurry on the way up). Spent a night in Palo Duro Canyon (south of Amarillo, TX), couple of nights across the road from Mesa Verde National Park in SW Colorado (I hadn't been there since I was 6 years old or so....a must see), drove through the Moab, Utah area (including "Hole in the Rock" tourista stop, and a quick drive through Arches National Park), couple of nights in Park City, Utah (including a side trip to the Sundance Resort in hopes of running into Robert Redford....my wife's hero....no luck there); and finally set up camp in Yellowstone's Fishing Bridge RV Park for 3 nights.
The trip back was more direct and a bit more rushed, since I had to get back home so I could make a planned motorcycle ride up to Oklahoma, New Mexico and Colorado.....see that trip on another page, if interested.
All in all, a fantastic trip that we both enjoyed immensely. Also we invited ourselves to stay with some friends in Cheyenne, WY on the way back, which was a bonus. They fed us too well, and we didn't want to leave, but the show must go on.....and my motorcycle was waiting patiently for me at home.
